Vortec heads / valve lash adjustment
Any different procedures with adjusting valve lash on Vortec heads? Put 100 miles on fresh top end rebuild and want to re-adjust the valve lash. I read a few comments about Vortec's and a few speciasl considerations when adjusting the valve lash. Roller rockers (1.5") with the Summit SUM-1103 cam.

You shouldn't need any further adjustmant with hydraulic lifters. Solid lifters do, but not hydraulic.

The rocker arms are self-aligning, but there are no differences in the process used to adjust them.
I agree that there's really no need to re-adjust them, other than to look at the witness marks on the rockers and valve stem tips to verify correct valvetrain geometry.

Being the rookie with this, I want to make sure they are OK. I will always guess if I don't. Sound out of the exhaust doesn't sound just right. This is stock manifolds with 2" (minus cat) true duals all the way back with performer muffs.

After I did my vortec and cam swap, I also a bit of valve noise for the first few hundred miles. It quieted down after that. I did what Billla suggested and checked the rocker to valve stem contact pattern and it was all good. I'm very pleased with my Vortec swap so far. Wow, what a difference.. How about you?
