Default several problems...one solution?

Here are the problems I am facing:

1.) Engine starts but when I take my foot off the gas it dies.
2.) If I pump the gas pedal to keep it running it will sometimes backfire through the carb.
3.) On the occassion that it does idle, when I rev it up there is popping in the exhaust
4.) lights will not pop up
5.) no brakes...pedal goes all the way to the floor.

With all of these symptoms I am thinking there must be a bad vacuum leak somewhere. What do you all think?

Number 1-4 could be caused by a vacuum leak.
Number 5 definitely is not.

I agree, 1 to 4 could be vacuum but check all the carb to see whats going on. 5 is a bubble in the brake lines somewhere, have you checked the fluid level?

1 - 3 sounds like timing
4 sounds like vacuum
5 leak in the brake system

Not related enough to be one solution!

Attack one problem at a time. First three could be considered common. ie:fuel, carb, timing, etc...

Lights and brakes are separate issues.

Lots of information on all these topics through the "search" function. Don't hesitate to provide what troubleshooting you have attempted and ask for further input.

Sounds like your leaning out. When you lean out the Air Fuel Mixture (due to a fuel issue) you throttle needs to be OPEN further than normal. The further the throttle is open, the LESS vacuum you have.

Check fuel pressure, fuel supply, Carb fuel bowl level etc...........

Yes you could also have massive vacuum leak but,,,ones that big are pretty apparent.
