Thanks

I have brought this question up a few times..it seems that some have clearance, and others don't. Some need the baffles trimmed, and others have just bolted the covers on and went. I would get a spacer and be done with it.

Try these from jegs.

about 1 inch taller. You will need two sets of gaskets and longer bolts.

If i'm going with spacers I might as well give up on the oem look and get tall valve covers ! Sure would like to find roller rockers that fit if there is such a thing !

This engine in my '73 uses Crane roller rockers with no problems. I did use double cork gaskets for some added clearance, but I don't know that I needed them.

This engine from my '63 turned 7,000 more than a few times with stock covers and no clearance issues back in the day...

It's now going back together with the same rockers and a set of slightly taller covers from PML...

Good luck... GUSTO

Gusto, do your covers (in your '73) still have the drippers?

On a stockish engine roller rockers are worth little to no horsepower anyway, so in that situation roller tips are just as good.
In more performance oriented builds the full roller rockers are better because the majority of the advantage of roller rockers is in the roller trunion, not the tip.

Roller-tipped rockers will fit under OEM Stock Valve Covers. Full Roller Rockers may not. I'm using full roller rockers with Aluminum Corvette Valve Covers. They are not tall covers but I am using double cork gasket to get some added clearance.

This is good info, I was told I had to use tall valve covers with my Comp Cams Roller Tips and I hate the things. They're so high, I had to extend the adjustments for the A/C compressor and it almost hits the hood. The alt. just clears them also. To change an Alt. belt I have to remove the valve cover. I'd say avoid the tall ones if you can. I never even tried the standards, just went with the tall ones.

the spacers mentioned work great if installed properly. they do not take away from the stock apperance and will clear any roller rocker. my brother has then on his 69 Z-28 and i have them on my 69 vette. both of us have the lt-1 chevy valve covers. tom

You can run these 1/4" thick spacers and gain 7/16" inside clearance and keep all of your standard brackets and valve covers with full rollers.

Great info all.
I really am trying to have my cake and eat it too. Thats why I'm trying to stay stock but prepare the internals so that If I want, I can change Heads, intake, and exhaust and have the internals ready.
I want to do roller rockers first and I see lots of info but does anyone have a part # that works?
