Default Fusible Link Alternative

I'm going to be upgrading my alternator to a CS144 and since I have the alternator to battery harness out of the frame, I am replacing the factory wiring with heavy 2 gauge wiring (had some laying around). Instead of using another fusible link, I would like to use a fuse or breaker. Has anyone done this? Not sure of the amp. protection I need, so what do I use?
