Default LS1 in my 75 vette...need help from those who have done the swap

So I thought about adding a blower to my current set up or converting to a 383 with a roller cam. MY FRIEND just offered to give me his 2002 ls1 motor for $1000. And i think this is my best choice of the 3. I know the motor wont just go in bc my friend has just put an ls1 in his 67 chevelle. I will be putting on an edelbrock victor jr manifold and my mighty demon 750 carb with msd ignition system and T-rex cam.

My questions to those who have done the swap is what parts/mods will I need to make to fit the motor in the car? I know I have to move the motor mounts and buy a new hood? I hope a 4 inch cowl will work. I wont be running A/C so no need to worry about that. What headers and exhaust will fit? I want to do this build on a budget.

The two motors are completly different. None of your old parts will fit the LS motors. Do your research on this. Look at the sticky up top and read it all and you will have an idea of what it takes to do this swap.

Yes because I am getting the edelbrock ls1 manifold that is carbuerated, which my demon carb will go on. Then msd makes a box that controls the coils and timing

I looked again at the sticky up top and it is of some help. I take it F-body headers and exhaust will work for my setup.

There is a member here, Holley505, IIRC, that has done the carb'd LS1 with success. He was running low 12s I beleive and hatched the motor. He now on his second build. Pretty nice set-up.

I would also join LS1Tech forum and look in the Conversion and Hybrids section and GenIII engine sections and start reading for a few weeks.

I think you'll have fun with the swap, and spend some money, but love the results.

The LS-X Conversion Directory sticky at the top of the page will give an idea as to what parts various people are using for their conversions.
