The correct car for my 70 is the 7040207 q-jet...can I use a 7040507 carb? What's the difference?

The primary difference is the 7040507 carb is for California emissions. The 7040207 is called the federal, for us in the other 49 (or is it 57?) states. The 507 connected to a charcoal canister for vapors. I believe the internals were the same. If you're looking for a good performer to take the place of a "70 207, look at the '69 7029207. That carb rode on top of the '69 L46. I ran one for a few years on one of my '70's, worked great.
