Default Any info on this motor I found?

I found a motor in a local advertisement. It's a 454 BBC. The casting number on the rear of the driver's side is 3999289. The casting on the heads is 336781. My ultimate goal for my 71 with a mildly built 350 is to build a 496 to drop in. I'm planning on calling him tomorrow, but I'd like some basic info on it first from the gurus. I believe this was a motor in a Chevelle from what I've gathered. In his ad, he states it needs rebuilding and comes with no intake or flywheel. All I really need this for is the block. Will this be a good base for what I want to do?

Post the engine identification code stamped on the pad on the block at the front of the right head. That code will tell you when the engine was assembled, where, and in what configuration it was built.

Those 781 heads are a fairly sought after, and along with the 049 heads, are about the best oval ports that GM made for the BB. If you decide not to use them and go with new or rectangle heads, you shouldn't have a hard time finding someone to buy them. Figure on getting about $200.00 to $300.00 for them depending on condition. More if they have had work done( bigger valves, hardened seats installed, new valve guides ect.)
