1978 Corvette Repalcement Seat Covers. Go with Leather or Leather Like
Original covers are cloth and leather. No longer to be found. Don't know if I should save money with leather like. Or go with 100% leather.

Your trim tag will not match what you use so someone who is wanting originality will know its been changed.
Dont think leather like covers would be a deal breaker but 100% leather certainly would be a plus.
good luck.

That is what bothers me. I have a person locally who wil make cloth and leather seat covers. I am looking at 1000.00. They would be close but not exact.

I too had a tough time deciding on leather or leather like covers. I went with the leather like for my 76 and was very pleased with the look and feel. I'm not certain that the differance is going to make that much of a differance in resale. Just my two cents.

My mercedes has leather seats and I always worry about kids sitting in them with pens in their pockets or spilling the big macs.
In my 1976 project, leather-like is my choice. Because I wont be as super-pissed if someone marks or destroys the seat.
Bottom line- if you have a museum piece=leather
if you are going to use your classic car=leather like
(I have vinyl on my 1969 Camaro...and you can tell its vinyl)

My car came with Comfortweave material on the seats. I went with 100% leather for replacement seat covers and have not looked back. My car, my choice and I am glad I went this route. I like the look of the seats and they hold up well to my use.

Although the leather like looked great for me I went with Willcox's full leather covers. Love the leather smell when I get into the car and the feel is great. Just my $.02

Gary, if keeping it original is what is most important then i would have to say replace it with what was on the car! Mine is factory leather vinyl, but when it comes time to replace i will go with full leather. I love the look, feel and smell of leather.

I used leather-like on my 68. It came out fine and looks great. I wish I had done the original vinyl (or whatever they call it). But that's just me... I think the older I get the more I appreciate originality.

If the $1k price tag of "close" custom is not a deal breaker, look around a bit for some NOS covers. There's a set out there somewhere, and I would think that sum would purchase them.

Go with whatever you really want. If you're worried about the effect of non-original seat covers have on the value of the car...dont. They can be easily changed at a later date.
I have a black 68 convertible with black vinyl seats, I went to cloth due to "burned buns" all summer.
