Default Routing Spark Plug Wires with Rams Horns

I would like to route the wires similar to stock (i.e. approaching the spark plug from the bottom not over the valve covers); however, I would like to avoid using the lower 'U' heat shields and also avoid routing behind the motor mount.

Will this be problematic ... is heat going to be an issue on the front 2 wires?

If not, is there a clean way to do this ... any pics?

Thanks!

The lower shields were for radio frequency interference avoidance only, not for heat. The upper shields are pretty much mandatory though.

Thanks, that helps ... I'll definitely be using the upper shields.

I was curious about the wires running to the front two plugs ... without the lower shield, and not going behind the motor mount, would these end up running too close the the exhaust?

It's easy enough to route them through the mount, less work than finding a jury rigged alternate method of keeping them away from the exhaust.

Thanks again ... after taking another look, I have to agree ... I think I'll route them behind the motor mount ... it does keep them tucked up close.

Hi Mike...when you say the upper shields do you mean the spark plug heat shields that tuck under the bottom edge of manifold and under the radio ignition shields? I'm looking to reinstall the shields on my 70 because they were missing when I bought it.

Don't mean to highjack...but it's related!

That's the upper shields.

I had the same concern about burning wires. I found a product called a "loom" and it is along the lines of this:
http://www.jegs.com/i/Billet-Special...oductId=744153
The loom attaches to the lower studs for the valve covers and allows you to run your wires above the rams horns and then down to the plug. You will pay more for the Chevy logo but there are generic ones that look good (chrome) and do the job just as well. It's a good solution.
