Default U-Joints

Heard a noise that I traced to a loose U-Joint. Took the driveshaft out and while taking the u-joints out I found that one bearing cup on each end was loose in the yoke. I did not need to press the u-joint out. The bearing cup just fell out.
This does not seem normal to me. I have always had to press the bearing cups out. Seems like this loose would lead to issues.
How can this be corrected?

Thanks all.

I have my driveshaft out so I just checked the dia. of the cups and they are at 1.065. I would beadblast the yoke or wire brush it up clean and look for a hairline crack. They should always have to be pressed out as well as back in.

sounds to me like the wrong u joint was installed and thats possibly why the noise also. it should be a nice firm fit so i would be checking all of them and even replacing all 6 with new units that you know are correct just for peace of mind .

I had one of my shafts that was worn and the u-joing was loose in the saddle , needed a new shaft,I think the PO must have forced it in and stretch or bent the saddle, it should be a real snug fit! Ron
