Default 81 EGR tube routing

Last night I found a small vacuum tube laying by my EGR valve.
Looking at my emissions hose routing diagram under my hood looks like it is supposed to hook the EGR solonoid to the EGR valve.
One end of the tube I found laying there is connected to a thru piece which then connects to a larger tube....which fits over the EGR Valve fitting. The other end of the tube has a strange little off white plastic fitting. I'm not sure if this fitting busted off my EGR solonoid or if it is supposed to clip onto the solonoid somehow. Does anyone have a picture of their EGR solonoid or knowledge of how this little fitting is supposed to hook onto the EGR solonoid? Looking at the solonoid it looks like it broke off the back side but I can't tell really. Does it sound like I need a new EGR solonoid?? or does this little plastic fitting attach on there somehow? Thanks for reading my post...

Sgal1 from what you are describing looks like you need to buy a new egr solenoid. hope this helps.
I am attaching a couple of pic of how mine is connected.

In the last picture....you see the tube comming off the EGR valve and circling back towards the EGR solenoid? Does that tube just plug into a fitting on the solenoid? Or on the back of the solenoid?
If so...I think you are right and I may need to replace that solenoid.

I think I found it....check this link out and scroll down.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CORVE...-/110568018436

See the fitting attached to the solenoid?
That is the fitting attached to the vacuum hose.
I wonder if it clicks on or is busted off?
I suppose the only way I'm going to find out is to remove the solenoid and monkey with it. Or buy the one in this auction.
Were getting warmer.

Here is a picture of the solenoid with the hose fitting attached that was on the end of that hose I found. My fitting went back on to the solenoid but the snap tabs you see here that hold the fitting in place had broken off. Since the fitting slides into the solenoid nice and snug...I was able to secure the hose fitting using a large zip tie. Once the solenoid was reattached to the bracket, and the electrical connector was re-attached to the solenoid, the tie seems very snug. In fact it seems more stable then the two original snap taps.
Anyway...I think I am good to go now because I bought some new vacuum tube and everything is back together now.
Thanks so much for your input....much appreciated.

Glad to hear you were able to solve it.

Can anyone tell me what solenoid that is next to the EGR solenoid? The one that the short hose coming off that white Y. It is just to the left of the egr solenoid as you face to the rear of the car.

Here is a picture I took of of the "Emissions Hose Routing" sticker on the underside of my hood.
It shows both solenoids as EGR solenoids.
Does this routing look the same as yours?

I think Wilcox or Zip probably sells the solenoids.
I found a couple on ebay also.
The internet is full of places that sell old Corvette parts.
I was able to repair my solenoid.
Then I ended up replacing all my emissions vacuum hoses.
My emission vac hoses were bad, cracked and dry rotted.
I took a piece down to Advanced Auto parts and I had them match it up with vacuum hose they had.
I think I bought about 3 feet and it was about $5.
The inside diameter of the vacuum hose is what is most important. The EGR valve has a slightly larger nipple so I had to enlarge the vacuum hose a little bit by working it with a larger phillips head screw driver to stretch out the new hose just a little. After a little work I was able to get them all on and have all new hoses for the emissions.
I did noticed a difference in how the engine seems to breath better.
I'm not sure if that difference was all in my head, but it did seem to make a difference for the better. I hope that helps. Scott
