Need your advice on engine/compartment paint
Hi guys,
Thanks so much for the last response. Now that I have the intake, heads etc. off the car, thought I would go ahead and paint the engine, compartment, frame etc. Not sure how the 81 350 came from the St. Louis plant so I thought I would ask the experts. Now for the questions.
What color and where is the best place to get paint and what color for:
1. Engine
2. Engine Compartment
3. Frame
4. Is there some paint I can coat the headers with other than powder coat that will last?
Thanks guy in advance..this forum is awesome.

I just got some cans of high temp gloss black for the frame. Flat black for the other parts like the skirts and stuff. high temp chevy orange for the motor. Though I think your motor would be blue.

I used Semi-gloss on the frame, Satin on the engine compartment, and sprayed the high temp blue paint in the can lid and brush painted the block. Tape every thing off if possible. Wires can be cleaned up with laquer thinner.

For the engine, I've had the best luck with VHT. Very easy to apply, looks kinda thin at first, but after a few thin coats you'll have a tough and beautiful finish.
