Default 400sbc torque converter

Hello, I have a 79 Vette 350 turbo trans 3:55 gears w/ a 400ci sbc cam is a 225 duration 480lift 400hp 450-475 torque. The factory stall is 1800 rpm my question is for street driving will my factory 1800 rpm stall higher behind the 400ci or do I need a aftermarket Hughes street rod converter that stalls at 2000-2200 or the street master that stalls 2300-2500? Any thoughts?

I doubt your factory converter will stall any more then 1600-1800...even behind your 400sb or behind a mild BB....they are just tight as hell...

You may look at the Hughes GM25, which is an 11", 2500 stall....that should wake it up nicely and still be efficient in town and on the hwy. With your mild cam, your stock converter will work fine but....they could ALL use a little more converter...even stock engines like a little more stall...
