Default Need Muncie 4 speed ID Information.

I've got a '72 LT-1 that I've just removed the transmission from. It's a Muncie 4 speed. Can someone help me ID what year transmission it is? R/S tail shaft #3978764, R/s case 7P09, R/S case # 3885010, L/S on shifter housing #3952648, and L/S #7S107786. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking this maybe a 1967 transmission.
Thanks;
Steve

This is a cast-aluminum case ? There should be a steel tag with part number.

No tags on case. The casting number shows it 65-67 transmission. The #7S107786 indicates it came out of a 67 vette built in early January '67. I think that's what the 7P09 stands for. I was hoping the other numbers would show if it was an M20, M21, or M22.
Thanks;
Steve

I can only go back to '68 , should be a 6 digit letter/number combo.

78 Silver 78; Thanks for the help. I have the same problem. I have the 68-82 restoration guide to go by. I have the Corvette black book but it doesn't cover transmission ID's. I think I'll re-post this in the C-2 section. Maybe I can get more info there.
Thanks;
Steve

According to "Corvette by the numbers", the 5010 maincase was used only in 66-67' so you are probably right on with your estimate.

Any chance there is a P before the 7P09? If so, it looks to be a 67 Built on 9th Sept day shift....according to my not so good dates book! lol.

P Muncie
7 Year ( 67 )
P Sept
09 Day Built

D or N Day or night but transmissions built on day shift may not show shift code.
