  3. Clean up Wiring

State Inspection

Later on the list:
  • Build Mounting Brackets for "new" leather seats out of an RX-8
  • Prep for Paint
  • Linear Actuators for Headlights
Great work, it's good to take your time, step back and think things through, makes for a clearer path to a complete project. I would also go your route if I had to do it all again, instead off a full body off right from the get go.

This is an awesome thread. Thanks for sharing this.

That wiring pic made me shudder. I do not look forward to that step.

So you have been at this for 7 years? Maybe you should have just gotten a C5. You could have had fun actually driving it

What fun would that be? If he did, he would have to drive a C5 instead of a badass C3!

For me, the doing part is a big chuck of the reason for the project. Anyone can buy a car...not everyone can do what he is doing, and has the pleasure that comes when he does finally finish the car. That takes some serious skills, dough, and amazing commitment.

Keep at it Kipring!

With the air beginning to turn cold (yep she is finally being driven and enjoyed), I've turned my attention to making some other small improvements. Given it's about time to start tackling the body and make some decisions soon on the direction I'm going to take with the build, I tried my hand at some more fiberglass to build my own console/dash.

With the console I tried utilizing a frame and stretch some fabric over the frame and it turned out okay, I still need to make space for the stereo, A/C controls, armrest, and .... cup holders (wait wait - going to graft in the BMW holders that slide into the dash/console and hide away).

With the console in, I've hit a wall until I get a hold of the A/C problem - looking at Vintage Air. Once I have the A/C in, I think I can begin molding in a dash with a frame and foam.

I have finally cleaned out the rat's nest of wires, and made it look clean and hidden away.
