Speedo makes noise ... Needs lube?
I had my Speedo rebuilt last year by Tony's Corvette shop. Ever since then the needle has been jumping a lot. He said at the time it needed a cable , but it never did this before. I have to assume he is right at first and try to lube the cable.
Question is how do I lube the cable? I guess I go thru the center console to get there? Then what do I put down the cable.?..
Thanx Chris

If the cable is jumping around you need a new cable, they are very cheap. You have 2 options when buying a speedo cable 1) iyou buy the the complete cable or you can just buy the core " the wire portion) Or if you want to just try lubing your old one best method i found is you must remove the cable from the back of the speed head, then pull out the core, then take a small brush and cover with engine oil put the core back in the cable and re-install, these should last you at least 15 to 20 years

Last year my cable was bouncing around 0 to 20 mph. I pulled the cable out of its casing at the speedo. I cleaned it with brake cleaner and lubed it by wiping it in a rag in wheel bearing grease. It is now smooth and makes no noise!

Do you have cruise control? I had a jumpy needle, followed by a snapped cable due to a faulty transducer. FYI.
