I tighten ballancer's all the time by my self. Do you have a ring gear holding tool? A Torque wrench? The distance from one end of the engine to the other is no very much. Just hold the flywheel with the ring gear tool and tighten the ballancer bolt until the wrench clicks. Good luck Al

I just stick a big screw driver through on of the holes in the flex plate and turn till it hits the block. Then torque the bolt with a hand torque wrench as normal......No "impact wrench here....

I have several of these in the shop. They work great for holding ring gears from rotating. Al

I don't remember exactly how I did this last year, but I think I just used a large pry bar in between the spokes of the balancer.
Hey, three of us around the same area. I live in Lakeville and work in La Porte (that's where I am at now, ha ha).

You could take out a spark plug, shove a length of rope into the cylinder, that should stop the crank from rotating and not damage the piston. Then you can torque to specifications.
Of course, I would do that when the piston is on the compression stroke so that the valves are closed.

Get some longer 3/8 bolts and with your crank pulley off, install them in the 3 positions that hold the pulley on. Use of large pry bar between any 2 of the 3 bolts to keep the engine from turning. With the other hand, tighten the crankshaft bolt to spec
