Removed Edlebrock Manifold & installed Stock intake, Now lifters Noisy?????
I swapped the Edlebrock with my stock intake manifold. Know my lifters started making a rapping noisy “ Hydraulic lifters” I have never heard that noise before I made the swap. It started with 1-lifter making the noise and it seems that it spread to all the other lifters. I bought new intake bolts (1-1/4’ X 3/8) and torque everything to spec. I also changed the oil after setting up the carb. Does anything go smooth with these C3’s any suggestions?

The only thing that goes smoothly is putting gas in them, a lot. sounds like you have not correctly adjusted the lifters. I thought your cam is a solid lifter. Recheck the lifters and adjust accordingly would be my first guess.
Why did you change the intake?

Reason I changed the intake I am re-installing my stock hood, I noticed a bit more low to midrange torque with the stock manifold compared to the Edlebrock Performer 2.0 manifold.

I have a performer manifold and my "hydro" lifters are noisy. More so than some solid cams around town.

You said you changed your oil too. I did that once and I think it was 10W40 like the old days with an old engine and the lifters just wouldn't stop clacking. I changed it right back the same day to 5W30 Pennzoil.
I just adjusted the lifters this weekend per the factory but only 1/2 turn more after resistance felt and now I have 10W30 Mobil1 and it sounds like a sewing machine.
Good luck. :)

I read up on oil filters ("corvettefaq.com"), do you have a standard Fram filter installed. They will supposedly cause noisey lifters because of the low filter surface.
I use the double guard right now but I may change filter types after reading their "engine oil filter study".

Ya, You should just go ahead and pull that P.O.S. 454 because you have had nothing but problems with it. Replace it with a reliable 383 small block!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yesnod: You must have to much power anyway. Your continuing to remove performance parts.
I think you need to find a shop that knows how to fix things also. Not the shop that you have been so proud of in a few posts. :seeya

Could it be that when you re-installed you distributor, that you have your timing too high? Could it be valve clatter instead of the lifters ticking?

That's a good suggetion however when you go SB to BB or BB to SB the brackets for everything are all wrong. Unless yo can pick u[p a complete 383 SB it will be a major PITA.
