Default Bent trailing arm

My trailing arm is bent and needs to be replaced. The local corvette shop wants $200 for a used arm plus 3 hours labour at $95/hr plus parts and they want extra on top of that if I want the parking brake Yo be functional basically after taxes id be looking at 700+ to have obe trailing arm rebuilt amd i still habe ro remove it from the car myself! I've called a few custom car shops and they are not familiar with the procedure.

The spindle is good and there is no bearing noise and the car was always garage kept. Ongoing that wilcox sells new bare trailing arms for $135 can I buy this and unbolt my spindle assembly and bolt it to the new trailing arm? If I send my arm to a rebuilder they won't return my core charge because the arm is bent so it would coat me $600 to go that route. I found a place called vtech that advertises on eBay to rebuild for $250 if you send in your parts first. I was thinking of sending my arm there and having the Wilcox arm dropshipped there and that would net me under $400. Bit I'm having a tough time opting for a rebuild when I don't need one, just an arm replacement.

Any thoughts?

I'm sure there are a few good trailing arms floating around in some forum members garages that could be had for a good price. Mine will be available sometime in the near future. Put a want ad in the for sale section and I'm sure someone will chime in and help you out.

well the least expensive way to do it is to buy a complete trailing arm all set up when they go on sale.....doing the bearing work yourself is a task and requires skill.....those rear bearings dont last forever and you may be closer then you think to having to replace them any way. i bought the 1/4 steel channel arms and had new bearings etc put in them and then found out my clutch pack and axles stubs and one u joint was bad... added to that SS parking brake stuff and new shocks and the VBP smart struts ....and then i had no money left....so rear end stuff gets expensive fast so keep a hand on the wallet when you are trying to figure out costs

from where your currently at with a bent arm, no core trade in value.
I would opt for the complete assemble. plus you get a warrantty !

If your a very mech. guy and know what run-out is, and how to measure it.
then just buy a replacement arm and you swap everything out.
there is a skill involved, in rebuilding these, and the right tools required.
Do it wrong yourself , and you get to start all over again.

Using this diagram here, is it not possible to unbolt M from D so that I have 2 halves, the front and the rear?

Why not cut off the old arm as far forward to the frame as possible.. if it's bent it won't matter. Then send it to me...

New arm 135.00
Bearings kit 34.98
Shim kit to set up arm 10.00
Brake shield 21.00
Parking brake shoes and hardware 50.00
Labor 281.50
532.48 and you bolt it in the car. If you don't want the shield you don't need to get it.. just makes the entire thing look brand new..
