super t-10 speedo drive gear
I need some info on a 1980 S T-10 trans. How is the speedo drive gear held onto the shaft in the trans? Mine can be turned with my finger. Looking at a replacement gear it looks to be splined but others look like a clip holds it in place. My speedo has never worked and it is narrowed down to this gear being loose. Can it be repaired just by pulling the tail housing? Thanks for any and all help.

Or I may have misunderstood, here's a link to remove the drive gear in the T-10 (it's half way down the page..

ST-10's with the 32 spline out put main shaft, the speedo drive gear on the main shaft has the same 32 splines as the out put, or where the sliding reverse gear rides...
So the short answer is, the drive gear is splined onto the main shaft, and 2 snap rings hold it in position...
Hope this helps... Crash
