Default Torker II cam?

Ok, so I figured out I pretty much have to go with a Torker II intake due to hood clearance issues on '74 Stingray. Next question, what's the best cam to go with the Torker II intake? Should I just go with the Torker II cam recommended by Edelbrock? Does anyone have a proven combo that's better?

Gonna install a 2200 rpm torque converter and bad *** heads down the road.

The only problem is a T2 is really just 40 year old piece of garbage.

They are not a tuned port intake.

Torquer II is a single plain, higher RPM intake. I would go with an Edelbrock intake, and a Lunatti Voodoo cam, Lunatti has some new high perf cam profiles. Match the cam to your stall and gear and you should be good.

The problem is no other intakes will fit under the hood. @ Jetts4U2, the Torker II IS an Edelbrock intake.

You should probably investigate dropped base air cleaners like K&N Because I was able to run good manifolds like the Weiand Stealth dual plane and Weiand single planes under a stock 79 hood

Small Block or Big Block?

Don't believe Edelbrocks . All their info is based on stock aircleaner.

I run an Edelbrock RPM Q-Jet (same height as all the RPM manifolds) with a Q-Ject and Moroso Low Profile Racing Aircleaner with 3" filter and still have 3/4" of clearance.

@Steve G75, my car is a the big-block 454. I'm assuming yours is small block? I'd love to run an RPM, but don't think I can.

Any factory Vette intake will work, with the LS6 intake being the best choice in that area.
The only currently produced intake that is sure to fit is the Torker.
Another decent intake that is out of production, but not too hard to find is the Holley Street Dominator. Here is a link to one on ebay, but they are a bit too proud of this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...ht_1135wt_1165

As far as the cam goes, I would pass on an Edelbrock cam and buy one from a company that designs and grinds cams.
Edelbrock is not a cam company. They rebox generic, mass produced cams that were designed ages ago.
Here is one better option for you - http://www.lunatipower.com/Product.aspx?id=2151&gid=287

Would the Weiand Team G fit under your hood?

If your referring to the single plane version, it wont even fit under an L88 hood.

Default Torker

I had a torker II with a cam marked 260 that ran great . I changed to dual plane and smaller cam , thought it might run better , I dont know . I've got 4spd , so I cant comment on how auto would work , but i liked my engine with the torker manifold

The Torker II is a "worst of both worlds" for a street intake - low rise and open plenum. Unless you've got deep gears, I would run a stock manifold before I'd run that intake. It won't start to make power until 3000+ RPM...and without serious heads it will still be below a dual-plane until maybe 5000 RPM or so...

As for the cam, need more information on the car, gears, trans, etc. before any guidance can be given...

I used a Lunati Voodoo full roller on a 68 427, and it pulls like a bear and winds up real fast. Torker intake, Holley, drop base cleaner with K&N element and top. Stock bigblock hood.

If you like that intake wait til you choose heads then choose cams.

The TorkerII lacks a little low end tq but it certainly comes alive with a nice top end pull to it. Hey nothings perfect always be someone faster, too.

I have been running the original Torquer intake on me 383, it was matched to my heads Dart Iron Eagle that were ported. It really comes on about 4500 rpm and pulls strong to @ 6800 rpm. Now for a pure street cruiser I would definately pass and now that I am no longer likely to take mine to the track for some fun runs I'll either put the original Lt-1 dual plane back in or maybe pick up an Air Gap.
Was cleaning up the garage yesterday looking for my original intake and found a Weiand Team G that I now remember buying off a local racer who had used it on 2 runs then sold everything. Never put it on my engine so I can't offer any comparison advice.
