Default Correct alternator for 1968 427/390

Hi,

On my 68 427/390, no AC, no PS (almost no options): Did GM put on a 37amp (1100693) or 42amp (1100696) alternator from the factory?

Thanks.

Martin

So they used the 42amp even if my car is a non transistorized ignition?

Thanks.

Yes. 350 horse, 390 horse, 400 horse without TI used the 42 amp 1100696. 435 with TI also used it.

Mike, you are right. I misread the Judging manual. 37 amp 693 is for 300 to 400 hp. w/o TI, non AC

696 42 amp is for 350,390,400,430,435 with TI (I misread this as only 435 w/TI), non AC

1100750 61 AMP for all AC cars.

Sorry for the misinformation. I am a very bad boy
