I recently purchased two 1446 Wheatherhead fitting from NAPA, and they did not come with o-rings. The guy behind the counter didn't have any idea what I was talking about. It was kinda weird, actually.....it was like he didn't even know what an o-ring was. Anyway, I need two o-rings for the fittings, anybody know what size they are? Is there any place I can buy them with the o-rings included, I'll just return them to NAPA.

So far, this is the only way I have come up with to obtain the proper size o-ring. I will be deep in the cold, cold ground before I pay 25 bucks for an o-ring!!! Especially when I need two of them!

Most good part stores have a decent selection. Harbor Freight has a assortment box, any hydraulic supply will have them and they should only be a few cents apiece.

I agree with "noonie" harbor frieght sells a kit with various sizes and I believe they're "viton" which won't deterate(spl) when exposed to fuel. I used the size 11 or 12s. not really sure!
I have the new fuel line ready but won't put on until after November 15. Thats when i put the car down for its winter nap. Mike

Man, I appreciate the effort, but I need to know the size. In order for it to work as designed, it needs a certain size o-ring. I have been searching the internet like a crazy person trying to find out what size o-ring is used on a fuel filter that came factory installed on, literally, MILLIONS of vehicles..............nothing. It's like there is some kind of conspiracy to cover up the fact that they ever existed. I went on the c4 forum. I figured those guys must change their fuel filters once in awhile, at least some of 'em, anyway. All I got is "-10 -11", I don't even know what that means!!!!

You might be making a little too much of this.
Just go to your local Ace hardware and get orings that fit rather snug on the end of the fitting. Preferably viton but the common nitril or buna-n will do. It is just a static application and the oring is compressed between the shaft and shoulder of the fitting and in a bevel in the filter.
If you really want to get technical, I believe the dimensions of the factory "Saginaw Fitting" oring is 7.35mm id x 1.66mm x section
GM probably had these made to a special size and compound, but close should work.
Here is the dash size chart

Local GM dealer or
Advance Auto for $.99
ACDelco Part No. 217-452 pack of 10
To confirm this, you may want to PM Jim Shea, he is familiar with the fittings and probably can give you some dimensions or part numbers.

Melting Slicks
These are the same o-rings I use AC Delco 217-452 for the saginaw fittings in the fuel filter. They should be replaced everytime the filter is changed out.
They are also known as a #011 o-ring. Go to a Hydraulic shop and ask for a #011 Viton o-ring. Viton is a premuim type of rubber for fuel use.
The #011 is used for 3/8 fuel line saginaw fittings.
The #010 is used for 5/16 fuel line saginaw fittings.
