Yes, i changed the starter/selonoid, battery and ignition switch already. The main ground connection to the frame is solid. The starter stays on after the car is shut off. I have to disconnect the battery to shut it down. Any thoughts? Thanks

Thanks for your response-I already changed the ignition switch on the steering column. So now I am trying to locate the starter interrupt switch

There is a saftey switch that prevents you from engaging the starter in gear but that will not cause your starter to run on, only cause a no start condition. It sounds like you are saying your starter runs when the battery is connected. I havent heard of an interupt relay in these cars. I have an 82 shop manual and will check it later for you. I still think its your switch or harness in the steering colum has a short.

you have power to the solinoid wire.you will have to trace it back were the power is coming from.take the wire from the solinoid off and check for power.then check it at the harness connector that is next to the ac box[these wires can melt together] .if that wire is still hot there you will have to go the ignition switch.i know of no starter interupt relay.

#1 - you said you replaced the ignition switch, but looking through your other threads it appears you might be confusing the "ignition switch" with the ign key lock in the column.
The key lock will not fix the problem your describing unless its mechanically not returning.
The ignition switch as others have said would be the #1 cause.
This first link is to an ignition switch http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1969-1982.html
This second link is to an ign key lock http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1979-1982.html
Which one did you replace ?

That's right-The ignition switch on the column under the dash-That is what it is called in the 1982 Chevy Corvette service manual by GM-I did not change the key switch mechanism.
