Default Steering Column

I have a 1973 with tilt and telescoping steering. The problem is that the entire column has come loose. It moves up and down. It still operates but it like something has let loose inside where the column meets the dash. Any idea or suggestions as to the cause and repair?
Tks John

Jim Shea describes this as a common problem with the C3's. Here is a link to his very useful papers about C3 steering. One of the papers describes how to fix this. I used his papers to rebuild my T/T column in my '73. I happened to have the same loose issue.

Hi John,
Is it possible that your problem is caused by the 2 bolts that bolt the column to the support bracket. They're located just where the column disappears under the dash pad and might be loose?
Worth a peek?
Regards,
Alan
