Alternatives for 1969 Door Ajar Buzzer
My door ajar buzzer (in the horn relay) sounds like a sick cow. I suspect that the mechanical buzzer needs a rebuild. Are there any alternatives like updating to a solid state buzzer and/or different horn relay?

A new relay is available from corvette vendors, no need to rebuild.

My 68 key buzzard sounds like its dying also.
I'm just frickin' amazed it still makes any noise after 43 yrs
I don't know which is worse an old buzz or an elevator chime?
I guess like we did years ago with the latest seat belt buzzers in the
70's you can always reach under and disconnect the connector from the relay. I imagine it is split from thee horn connector.
or just shut your door while driving

Thanks for the replies. I was kind of leaning toward the elevator chime as crazy as that sounds. I guess disconnecting it has been the most common solution to date.

My 69 does have the buzzer and it still works (if I plug it up). I did not like the sound of it either. Just a single wire unhooked from the relay will shut it off.

I think the buzzer being discussed signifies that the key was left in the ignition, not that the door is ajar. If so, most don't work because the switch inside the steering column failed decades ago.

It is the key in the ignition buzzer I was refering to. Guess I should consider myself lucky it even still works. Just a red light on the center dash for the "door ajar" warning.
