Default Q-Jet vs Edelbrock or Holley???

I have been rebuilding by top end of my L-48 with Eldebrock components and thinking I should keet the old 750 CFM Q-Jet. Any problem with my thinking this? Also, I haven't checked yet, but I was told that in some models the flapper in restricted on the secondaries and that this can be modified to allow for a full 90 degree opening. Any comments on this?

There is nothing wrong with keeping your carb. However, what is the purpose of the car? Strip street cruise
is your intake spread or square bore?
Are you willing to work on it or do you want an out of box experience?
finally, how much cash do you have to spend on the carb?
what are the rest of your specs as far as heads and cam?

Personal preference and use of the car are the only issues to consider. Keep the qjet and either learn to rebuild it or send it out if you are doing anything other than all out performance. If you are into max performance at the compromise of other considerations go for a Holley. If you want car show bling and don't care about performance get the edelbrock. JMO.
