Default 1971 LT1 Header ?

I have a 71 LT1 4spd
All is stock, except I did put on magnaflo exhaust
I want to put on headers
Question is
Which one's?
Will it be to loud?
(I do want to be able to carry on a conversation when driving)
I want soemthing that is a easy bolt on
How much additional horse will I get?
Your help is always appreciated

Some answers,
Which ones? Buy the best you can
Will it be too loud? Shouldn't be any louder than it already is
Additional HP ? Probably not notcible

Speaking to power - with your existing free-flowing exhaust I'd offer that you will have a power increase that's noticeable, especially on an engine like the LT-1 that is definitely held back by the stock manifolds.

If you had to guess, how much increase horse willl the headers give?
Also can you advise which one's and if it is a easy bolt on?

I haven't put on a set of C3 headers in quite a while - so I'd suggest a little searching here. All headers have their fit issues; I've generally found over the years that Hookers generally fit pretty well...but again, search is your friend

As for power, a little more information - the LT-1 is bone stock? Is there a crossover tube?

Generally, I'd expect to see 20 or even 30 FWHP from long-tube headers with a free-flowing exhaust given the configuration...once the engine's tuned to match.

I have been rec. Dynomax full length headers which flow & fit great. Many have them now. Flowtech is now selling them.
There is a less exp. model Blackjack also sold by Summit.
Hooker aren't what they used to be.

Are you certain you want to make this change to a genuine LT-1?

Yep, you'll want to set aside EVERYTHING including the french locks, etc.

But...it's an engine that's made to be driven for sure!

You will also need to find a way to mount the Alternator, since it attaches to the front of the OEM exhaust manifold.

As for sound or loud, that is controled by the muffler not the manifold.

Just use the 72 and later alternator bracket. It bolts onto the cylinder head. I use Hooker Super Comps or if you have lots of$$$ Stainless Works headers are some of the nicest to be found.
You will see an increase of around 25hp and 30-35ft/lbs of torque if my previous dyno testing is anything to go by.
