Still needing to lower my front end.
I cut a loop from the coils of the front end on my 75.
What a waste of time.
Here is the before and after shots.
And here is how my 75 sits now:
Any suggestions?
I believe the rear sits to high and the front needs to come down 2 1/2 to 3 inches.
Ralph
By the way she was being readied for paint.
And that's where she is now.
Here is the look I'm going for:

The first picture is when I got the car. It had 90,000 miles on it.
The motor is in the car, but with aluminum heads and headers.
The springs are in correctly and I drove it through the alleys around here so the would be plenty of movement and the springs would settle back in. It has about 5 miles on it since I cut the springs.
I put the old tires and rims back on the car because It's now in the paint shop.
I have 255/45/17's all the way around.
It did drop some but not near enough.

agree with this suggestion. I typically place the springs so that you can see the end through the small 1/4" sight hole. The other posibility is that you have incorrect springs from a past owner.

I should of measured the stupid things when I had them out.
With a loop cut off the springs they were still tight getting them back in.
I mean real tight.
I'll try to get a picture of the top of the springs. I know the bottom is in the notch.
I know if the springs are not in right you can't get the shocks back in.
Found this out the hard way.

lowering springs
These springs will lower your Corvette and also improve the handling.

The springs were bowed when I started jacking up the car.
And as the lower control arm came up the spring straightens out.
With the shock in they have to be close.
If they are not right this will be the first springs I've put in wrong.
And yes I had to kick them into place.
I'm leaning toward wrong springs to start with.
I rebuilt the front end and then I pulled them out to cut a loop out.
Plus the ride height was like this when I got the car.

If I remember correctly the stock springs are very long and pain to re and re. The aftermarket springs are much shorter and easier to re and re. Now this is going back 10 years or so but if I recall you cut the bottom coil off.
Next I put masking tape on the end of the top of the spring so I can see it through the sight hole easier. You want to make sure the top coil goes just past the sight hole, too far and you will be riding the same height or higher.
The bottom of coil sits where it ends up it doesn't matter where, technically speaking it does because I think there is a drain hole in the bottom grove but there's not much you can do about it. It is the top of the spring that has to be in the correct position. Check out some new stock springs I thing they are about $30

I've had several front ends apart and never had to use a spring compressor, just a jack.
The springs were bowed when I started jacking up the car.
