Default Engine block Identification question 3914660

I am trying to ID a 327 Engine block # 3914660, pad # 18Z120285,
T1127EC. It appears to be 1968 327, 275 or 300 HP. But here is my question. On the back of the block is normally a casting date. It reads "CONV1"? What does that mean?

Without looking into it further, I can tell you that if this was out of a Corvette then this block # was used solely in a 300 HP model (2 bolt main).

Oh, and "Conv1" is a designation for the block casting mold line that it came from in the Tonawanda factory/plant. It is not specific to just Vettes.

EC is shown as a 65 or 66 327 from a chevelle.

CONV1 was the conveyor line or mold number. The casting date should be in it's usual location on the top right hand side of the bell housing flange. The casting date when you find it should have two digits for the year, unlike Flint blacks that used just one digit.

This casting number was used in 1968 only, on all sorts of HP levels. This is borne out in the 8 in the VIN derivative 18Z120285. The Z means that the car was built in the Fremont Chevrolet plant.

The T in the engine machine code means that it was built in the Tonawanda NY plant. No SB Corvette engines were built there. 1127 means that it was assembled on November 27th. The only listing I can find for EC in '68 was Nova 275HP L-30 Power glide 4-Brl Hyd Cam.

Thanks guys. Here is the final summary:

327 Engine block # 3914660,
This casting number was used in 1968 only, on all sorts of HP levels
Pad #18Z120285, 8 in the VIN = 1968
CONV1 was the conveyor line or mold number.
Pad # T1127EC
T = Tonawanda NY Engine plant
1127 = Nov 27
EC in '68 was Nova 275HP L-30 Power glide 4-Brl Hyd Cam.

I have a question regarding the T1127 code. The code on my sons 327 that he just acquired is T1127HM. Whenever I try to do a search for that code it keeps coming to the 'EC' code. Can anyone help me to find out what we have here?

Thanks to any and all help,

T1127 means an engine assembled in the Tonawanda NY plant on Nov. 27. The year is not included in this code and must be obtained (with the casting number of the block) to narrow down what type of car the engine was installed in. The HM code was used three times in different years.

Sorry I just scored an engine with the exact numbers and researching those numbers the thread came up so dig deeper and shared. I thought I had a vette engine and was very excited about it . Then I found that it was from a camero.
