Default 68 voltage regulator capacitor?

On the Paragon site I see a voltage regulator capacitor.

https://www.paragoncorvette.com/p-36...capacitor.aspx

But I don't see where it goes, don't remember it on my car, don't see it in the assembly manual. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks!

Look at UPC U69 Sheets A3 and A4 in the AIM for the capacitor locations. There are several of them!

The capacitors that are attached to electrical items in the car are used to dampen any 'pops'/'clicks'/'buzzes' that are generated by those devices so that they don't get fed into the audio system. The early radios were notorious for being 'noisy' because of such electrical junk signals. So, GM (and others) put supression capacitors on the circuits to eliminate those noise signals from the electrical wiring. Same reason for the chrome shielding on the distributor/ignition wires/plugs.

If your radio doesn't have such ignition noises in the sound, you don't need to worry about installing them. If you just want the car to look 'original', you not only need capacitors, you need the correctly marked capacitors....and expensive proposition.
