Some help with a 383
I have some one that is selling a 383, he built it but never installed it in a car. I am new to the 383 engines so i dont know what to look for to prove its a 383. any help

Unless you know and trust them or can verify the build (all the parts, machine work performed, etcLwith receipts and talk with the machine shop; I would pass. If you have that info or can get it, post it up. It's impossible to say what it is otherwise. It could be anything from a 283 with a Krylon rebuild to a full on race engine.

All parts proving it's a 383 are internal, crankshaft mainly. And just because it's a 383 doesn't mean it's put together better than a well rounded 383. I would pass unless you have paperwork. I have a 383 with roller rockers, forged pistons, etc. that is what counts.

Buying anyone's overhauled engine is a crapshoot - Ben called it; you really won't know what you're getting unless you get into it to look.

I believe i will take everyones advice, Only way i would puchase this is if he lets me take it to the machine shop let him brake it down. it would be worth it if its a true 383. They only want 750. for the long block.
