Default sealing differential gasket

What do you recommend to seal the differential gasket. I tried it dry , on my spare original differential and it leaks. I'm use to gaskets actually sealing and not needing "glue" to seal something.

I always put a small bead of RTV on the cover around the whole thing and surrounding the bolt holes, and then I apply the gasket to the cover and let it set for 5 minutes. Then mount it up and torque it to spec (I always do 100 in lbs). Always worked for me on every diff I have done.

I put a thin layer of grease on both sides of the gasket it holds it in place and I never had them leak. I think one of the GM service manuals said to do it that way.

Permatex High Tack spray on gasket sealer on the stock paper gasket. Spray both sides of the gasket, let it dry for 5-10 minutes, and assemble. One of the few things I seem to be able to assemble without leaking. Now if I could just get my oil pan as tight...

I use a small amount of ultra black on both sides of gaskets like that and never had any problems.
