Sorry Cooper, I meant to quote Scottyp99 and his link to the other site where a Torrington bearing got crushed when a motor got dropped or hit and it shows the damage that occurred.

I just got a bit muddled up with Scottys and Coopers and in my excitement showed my average computer skills when quoting on here.

I'm running a 4L60E and I probably put 30 tunes into the computer just adjusting the lockup and shift points when I first got the swap done. Honestly, if you don't have the trans yet, spend the extra and run a 4L60E with a stand-alone computer which monitors both road speed and engine load (or throttle position). You will not regret it.
What are you running for a diff gear?

Hey, No harm done - I'll admit I was a bit confused, but that sometimes happens anyway...

Yeah, I just posted that link to make sure I knew what a torrington bearing was, had nothing to do with 'vettes, I think it was a rotary engine, wasn't it? Hmmmm...........a rotary engine in a 'vette.........awwww, man!! Now you guys got me thinking about stuff!!! Stuff I can't afford to even be thinking about!!

Turning the wheels it's between 3 and 3.5 revolutions of the pinion so from the option info I found it seems 3.31 is the ratio. A little higher than your ratio but a little heavier car. Actually, it's maybe only about 120lbs heavier based on the info I found.

As I already posted, I dialed in the gear and lockup for the different speeds to make it nice and driveable without any lugging or higher rpm's then necessary.

My 'vette is around 3240 lbs. with a full tank of gas, eventual goal is to get it down under 3100, maybe 3000 someday. Still, that is something for me to think about, thanks, man.

Weight cutting or the '80 is lighter than other year C3 because I saw a few numbers for C3's around 3500lbs?

I looked again and found another '80 weight, 3206lbs as the shipping weight.

The Impala is supposed to be around 3600lbs.

Yeah, the 1980 'vette had some weight cutting measures such as aluminum diff, thinner fiberglass in doors and hood, stuff like that. Mine is a 1980, if I didn't mention it. I think the shipping weight is with no fluids, curb weight is with full tank of gas, etc., so it's higher than shipping weight. I would have guessed more for an Impala, but now that I think about it, the '65s were big cars, but not as big as they got in later years, plus it's got a small block. When I was in high school, a friend of mine had a '69 Impala, now that was a huge car!!!

65-70 Impala's were all about the same size. The styling of the 69 made it look bigger. Personally, I like the 65's & 66's but the 65's more with the 6 x round tail lights.

Yes, there are styling cues and other tricks that can be used to make a car appear larger or smaller, even the color can have that effect. There are 2 identical Honda Fits in the parking lot where I work, one dark blue, the other silver. I would swear the blue one is a smaller car, unless they are side by side. My '73 Roadrunner only weighed 3840 with an all cast iron big block, It looked like it had to weigh 5000 lbs.!!!!
