Default License plate lamp problem

I am in the process of installing a rear tru-flex bumper cover on my 1975 corvette and am having a problem of how to install my license plate lamp on my bumper cover. Anyone have any photos on how they did the job?

I completely firberglassed over that overly LARGE hole on the Flex-glass bumper and installed a flat lamp assembly that was a MOPAR (for a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee) Lamp-License Assembly #55054611. I had a nice one laying around from a Jeep that I used to own.

Yes, I know Mopar on a GM, but I don't care - it fit nicely, works and was already paid for.

Doesn't Tru-flex use the stock mount? It should be the same as your original cover.

The Flex-glas I got had a very large, maybe 3x2, just guessing, and the original lamp assembly just felll thru the hole.

Maybe by now they've changed the mold, but I got mine a couple of years ago. I can only speak of the one I installed, might be different now.

I looked at Tru-Flex then and they looked like they came from the same manufacturer. (?)

The cut out area that they have is not the same shape as the stock license plate light. I could make it work but in doing so, you would have to take off the bumper cover just to change the light bulb. I am hoping someone else had the same problem and could post a photo of how they tackled this problem. Thanks KenSny I will keep that your idea in mind

WilCox, I know you folks install tru-flex bumper covers. How does your shop attach the stock license plate light to the tru-flex bumper cover (1975)?

Yes, changing the bulb would be a problem no matter what you choose.

It is easier to drop the lamp fixture (2 screws) from above the license plate and change the bulb.

A big reason why I chose the lamp assembly I did. I also painted the assembly to match the body/bumper color. I love my airbrush for small jobs.
