Default Braille Lightweight Battery Evaluation

Well, it's been in for 2 years now, and so far I give it a thumbs up

While not as powerful as my former Optima battery, it definitely delivers the juice for high performance street/strip use. Hot starts, no problem. Winter starts, no problem. It will start the car after 3 weeks of sitting, but if the car sits idle a month, you'll need a jump start. No problem for regular summer driving, but for winter storage I use a charger to keep it up.

So, if you want to lose a quick 18 lbs. off your car, this is the way to go.

Braille 3121 battery = 22 lbs. Optima = 40 lbs.

If you really want light weight, maybe try a Shorai or Ballistic battery. Member in the C6 section reports good luck with a Shorai LFX 36, and only 5 LBS.

Do you need the high amp charger when the battery goes below 10volts?

I have a 10amp charger with a 50amp booster for immediate jump starts, nothing special. Let it charge for a few hours if necessary.

That's a motorcycle battery, isn't it? I'm familiar with those, but I didn't think it would last long in a car ????

Correct, it's a motorcycle battery, but a large 36AH, 500CCA one. If interested, contact member 40YRW8(Gary), as he's the guy running one of these in his C6 ZO6. He's a real weight fanatic, and actually runs a shop manufacturing titanium fasteners. He'll send you a list of what he did to his car, and list of fasteners he makes. $300 set of Ti lug nuts anyone.
