Default Anyone install a LUK clutch?

I understand that LUK makes the OEM clutch for Chevy including the C5 although I am unsure if they make the C6 or if they originally made the C3. I also have read where they make a lot of the clutch units for other companies.

I was looking for a factory type feel as I have a pretty factory stock motor. LUK sells through a web site called Dial-A-Clutch and the pricing looks good. Any reviews on them?

I bought a LUK clutch from Autozone - something was wrong with the pressure plate out of the box. Took me a lot of time and effort and cost to get it figured out...So my Luk was not a good experience....

I've installed a couple of LUK clutches in ZR-1's and they performed flawlessly.

They also make a "Gold" version of the kit for an extra $90 and I wonder if it is worth it and if it makes for a stiffer release.

I installed a NAPA clutch and it says LUK on it. No complaints here.

I install a Luk clutch every 5 years, just because I do a lot of cruising around town and a lot of shifting. never had a problem with the Luk clutch or pressure plate. I did have a problem with the composite throw out bearing that comes with the kit so I don't use them anymore. I purchase a Napa steel one. Plus a luk clutch kit is a Luk clutch no matter where you purchase it, just shop around for the best price. I purchased mine from Pep Boys for $65.00 cheaper than the Napa price.
Also make sure you get the correct spline!!!!. First clutch I ever put in I got the wrong spline, took me a whole half day of moaning from a sore back before I realized what was wrong
PS, it's a real pain in the ASSSSS to have to remove everything just to re-install a throwout bearing. Funny thing was ,when I had it in my hand before the install I said to myself " this will never last " I should have listened to myself , it would have saved me having to replace it.
So, get the Luk kit and a Napa steel throw out bearing, and don't forget to grease the spline shaft or the bearing will bind after a few thousand miles.
I have also had the regular Luk kit and the Gold Kit , I could not tell which was which ,so save the money.

Thanks for the info! I will be posting a video one of these days featuring my "moaning" clutch. I think the diagnosis/cure will be failing/replacement.

Pippo350 - could your problem be it is out of adjustment or the throwout bearing previously mentioned?

Thanks for the reply, the throwout bearing is brand new too, allignement problem??Maybe you're right, but I can't understand why I have the problem after 1.500 miles and not when I finished the change of the clutch ..

of course I need to check it,but the summer is (finally) here and I want drive it !
To reduce the proble of gear engagment I switched the oil from 75/80 85/140 I notice an improvment.

Default Luk...

Nothing wrong with LUK clutches...all the parts are NEW and direct replacement for the year of the Vette...UNLESS....someone has been there before.....Problems can show up by not installing the units correctly and also not getting the flywheel resurfaced......to make a claim that the splines are different and had to take it apart at extra time and expense is incorrect as the transmission determines the size of the splines. Just be looking and comparing the units that issue should go away immediately and if wrong will never fit....Over the years our parts store sold hundreds, but the information given must be accurate or the customer takes a chance the parts could be wrong....

I would venture to say that if switching your trans oil helped , it " MAY NOT "
not be the clutch or throw-out bearing.
You may want to re-check your linkage adjustment on your trans. I know that one time I fooled with my trans linkage after it was out and when I installed it back in , I put the car in neutral ( so I thought ) turned the key and I almost went through the end of my garage wall. It was out of adjustment and was actually in 1st gear. I still have the black peel out marks on my floor, had I gone backwards I would have been replacing a garage door. To me it does not sound like you have a clutch or throw-out problem.

pippo350 - I didn't say alignment I said adjustment. I meant the adjustment rods on where your clutch takes up - is everything there in good working order and adjusted properly?
