Mini starter.
I have an 80 4 speed. I am installing a crate motor in it and I am planning on using the flywheel I have. The block in the car has an offset bolt starter and the new block has an inline bolt starter. The starter I want to get lists it as fitting a 153 tooth and a 168 tooth flywheel. Will this work.

gear tooth spacing is the same for both. if your new block has in-line holes, that's the starter you need. make sure it's for your transmission-that is manual or auto. also use the correct bolts-the starter has bore holes in metric but your mounting threads in the block may be sae.

Yes it should work. My mini starter has two set of in line holes that position it closer or further from crank. It also allows you to rotate it to several positions to clear headers/oil pan better. I've had it for many years and it works great. Best part is it was a cheap house brand Summit starter. ProTorque I think? CVR? Anyway, it's a basic nippondenso design and if you did need to repair it, any starter shop has the parts.
Hard to believe your block only has straight across bolt holes. That must be one OLD block??
