Default 79 Heater Core Replacement

It looks like I'm going to have to replace my heater core again. Last time I did it the engine was out and it was pretty easy. Anyone done it with the engine in the car?

Here's a thread that covered it well in the last couple days, including a diagram. Should be close enough to your situation.

There's a recent one as well that covered those with a/c.

Thanks, but that thread doesn't have anything to do with replacing a '79 heater core. Still looking to hear from someone who has replaced a heater core in a '79 (or similar) without removing the engine.

This may be better as it is year specific. It didn't seem a whole lot different than my '71. Six bolts to remove the blower box, then remove the heater box from the passenger compartment . . . you get the rest.

I did my 82 last winter. Take pics and be careful with the dash when pulling it out to drop the heater core box. It's not bad just time consuming. It took me about 6 hours but I was painting stuff and replacing all the bulbs in the center stack.
