GAS Odor???
I have a 78 Vette and when it is in the garage I get a odor of gas. Have no leaks nothing on the floor or engine only after I filled with gas. I did not over fill or spill any. All help will be apperciated.

Check the seal where the neck meets the tank. You may have to push the rubber boot out of the way to get a clear view.

Melting Slicks
It looks like this:
and located on the driver's side fender, right below the windshield washer container. Hoses might be split.

If you have a newer Vette it will look like the pic above. If the motor is modified or the previous owner modded it the hoses usually just get cut off, that's what happened to mine and it stunk in the garage.
I got an older model charcoal canister and it only has an inlet from the gas tank and outlet to the pcv which sucks all the stinky gas smell out.

Burning Brakes
I used to get very strong fuel smells until I replaced my tank. No issues now. Never had a leake, just always smelt like gas.
Wife is much happier now.

I recently had the same problem on my 69. Assuming that the configuration didn't change by your year, there are two short rubber fuel lines back at the tank- one is normal size and the other is 5/16" if I remember correctly. Over the years they age and crack- not always obvious but enough to allow fumes to seep. They are not easy to get to and replace but it can be done. You may want to grab a light and look on the passenger side of the tank while lying under the car. The 5/16" line is right at the top of the tank. On mine I could see a slight discoloration in the dust and grime that had gathered over the years. They both looked like the original factory lines.
