Default Are there different symptoms between a bad starter or a bad ignition switch?

Sorry for posting again...I have a '78 Corvette (L-82/4speed) and I am pretty sure that I have a bad starter, BUT I was doing a little research and found out that a bad ignition switch can cause some of the same symptoms as a bad starter......How can I tell which one is bad for sure?
Just curious if there are any tell tale signs....Again, Thanks alot..

If it is a bad starter or starter solenoid, you will get full voltage at the S terminal (purple wire on the solenoid) when the key is turned to start, but the starter will not crank. If it is a bad switch - ignition, clutch or neutral safety- you will not get full voltage to the S terminal when the key is turned to start. You may also not get full voltage from bad connections, weak battery, or wires.
