Hello everyone....I have a '78 L-82/4 speed car. All '78 and '79 L-82/4 speed cars came from the factory with a 3:70 rear gear. It's a cool set up for around town driving, but on the highway it's a bit too much. My car for example at 80mph is taching 4000rpm.
I would love to have a 5th overdrive gear to shift into on the highway.
My question is what transmission would give me that 5th overdrive gear? I have heard alot of good things about the Richmond 5 speed.
Has anyone done a 5 speed swap in their Corvette.....Any feedback is appreciated.....Thanks!

I've got a Richmond 6 speed, same case as the 5 speed OD. There are a couple other 6 speeds here too.
It's a direct swap except for moving the mount back and lower. I would suggest making your crossmember removable.
