Default New Kooks Headers for C2 & C3 Corvette - Custom Quality on a Production Level!

Continuing their tradition of a making "made to order" headers on a production level, Kooks is excited to offer these new high quality 304 stainless headers for the 1963-1982 Corvette with the 23 degree small block V8. These headers are available with 1 5/8", 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" primaries and slip fit collectors. Features like hand ported primaries amd merge collectors add to the performance and craftsmanship. We also offer the option to have these headers ceramic coated.

This header does require you to custom fabricate a connection to the rest of your exhaust.

Kooks worked hard to make the nicest header on the market for these cars, and it appears they nailed it!

For best price, call us @ 443-730-9428 for a custom quote!

Those look nice. Do they make a side pipe version?

Any chance for LS headers in a C3 chassis. I would buy them in a second.

Why is the only side exhaust header option Headman or Hooker? These look awesome ... only if they were side exhaust though....

I agree. The Headman sidemounts are pretty nice though, and have the ball joint connection now with no gasket. Surprised no one else has made any... small market Im sure..

Stahl also lists them but you're going to spend for them.

Don't forget Stahl if you want the most horsepower but they only come in black.

I've asked Kooks about sidemounts for the last three years at the PRI Show and so far there just isn't a large enough market for them to develop them.

Translation: they've yet to figure out how to manufacture them for sale at a competitive price. Thing is, I'd bet this particular market (Corvette owners, not the market in general) would likely support a reasonably higher price for a similarly higher quality product. Need to do BBC fitments too. My $.02, PayPal accepted.

Not to take anything away from MarylandSpeed they look very nice, and will probably perform just as well.

I prototyped a 1 7/8" primary SS 321 and they IMHO are the best headers I have ever seen. I wish I could have started out with stepped headers, 1 3/4" into 1 7/8". Nothing wrong with the headers I helped design but it would have been easy to make them into stepped headers.

Just a little info for my CF friends:

"The advantages of using 321 SS vs. 304/304L SS

At first glance, it appears that type 304/304L SS is very similar to type 321 SS. Comparing the chemical composition of of 321 SS and 304/304L SS, it is clear that the chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) ranges of these alloys are very similar. The difference appears when the issue of “carbide precipitation” in the “heat-affected zone (HAZ)” is discussed or fatigue strength and temperature have to be considered.Carbide precipitation

The weld areas with temperatures 930°F – 1470°F are often called carbide precipitation zone – in which Chromium (Cr) combines with Carbon (C) and precipitates chromium carbides at the grain boundaries significantly reducing corrosion resistance of steel in this zone. One of the ways to combat this phenomenon is to lower the carbon content in steel to decrease the carbide precipitation – 304L SS is an example of such steel; the “L” in 304L is for “Lower carbon” (.030% max vs. .080% max for 304 steel). Even more effective way against carbide precipitation is addition of Titanium (Ti) to the alloy to “stabilize it”. The carbon is more attracted to the Titanium (Ti) and therefore it leaves the chromium alone. To be a true “stabilized” grade the 321 steel has to have Titanium (Ti) content at least 5 times of Carbon’s (C). Reduced risk of corrosion in the HAZ is the main advantage of 321." :cheers".

I have had these headers on my 427ci for a couple of years now and they still look brand new, no discoloration or rust anywhere, they are simply the best headers I have ever seen or used.

I wish MarylandSpeed the best of luck, headers seem to be a touchy subject, one or two complaints about them because the buyer has no experience with making things fit because their frame isn't square or something else similar and it really hurts sales

is there a particular reason they are not made with a ball and socket connection? Or are they? Or is it just that everybody welds on their own?

It says in the description they're slip fit collectors.

Makes it easier to build a custom exhaust off of.

Need help, Corvette noob here this is my first post - I'm building a c3 powerplant and want the kooks 1 7/8" headers because they have such a great track record for fit and make power.

I would like to add on kooks exhaust parts and take this to the tailpipe just like my Mustang. I know Kooks makes great parts like the green cats and such.. and their axle backs sound and look like Corsa (benchmark IMO for looks).

How do i get there? is there a full kooks header / cat / xpipe / muffler system turn key?

goal is to support 500HP at the crank, with cats. Need 100% stainless so it will age with the car nicely.

Please help a noob, ps. i'm looking through every thread i can find on kooks and they all show custom exhausts hand bent. Thanks, Jeff C.
