Lowering rear end

Lowering rear end
Ok on my 74 I have a trw leaf spring but the back end still sits a bit high. Anyone can give me tips on how to lower it about 1 inch ?? Never done this how hard is it and what would be involved

Are you using the 8" spring bolts? If you are you can lower the height by bringing the nuts lower down on the bolts. You then will have to realign the rear.

Make sure to carefully check the clearance between the tire and the end of the spring if you lower it a bunch. Dick Guldstrand makes a short steel spring to deal with that very problem. Dunno about composite.

10" bolts will only lower it 2" and your spring end will be gouging your tire side wall. I would return the spring (looks new?) and get a VBP spring. You will get the proper height with 8" bolts.

Spring I got last year so prob can't return it when I put the 60 wall tires on its more noticeable my mechanic put the spring on and I didn't think it was gonna be so high Like I said ill have to live with it

Muskegon Brake is the manufacturer of the TRW springs and a supporting vendor here. They are already aware of the problems with their springs being over arched. I'm sure if you contact them they will do the right thing and refund your money. Here's their quote from one of the threads below, "I would rather take back the spring than have an in-correctable ride height issue and a dissatisfied customer."
The following threads illustrate what a common problem this is:
trw mono spring
Rear sits to high with new spring
Just got the TRW Mono Spring did I make a mistake?
Identify Monospring
New rear spring ride height too high
rear composite spring
Composite Spring Vendors: RE: height issues
And I'm sure if you do a search you will find more.

Be careful to not lower too much using bolts and springs. The lower you go, the closer to horizontal your rear half shafts will be. You need to make sure they have a 1/2" drop from the diff to the trailing arms.
When you accelerate the suspension will compress and change the angle of the shafts. That 1/2" is there to make sure they do not get inverted and bind.
Keep that in mind whatever spring/bolt combination you end up using.
There are many folks on this forum much wiser than I regarding suspension geometry so I won't even attempt to try to fully explain it.
A solution I have seen is to raise the differential itself by notching the cross member. That will pull the entire suspension up into the car and still keep the geometry correct. It will mean less travel until you hit the bump stops, so they will need to be shaved down accordingly.
Good Luck
