Need Picture of Alarm Horn Mounting Bracket
I am installing a factory alarm system in my 1971 Coupe. I have obtained all of the parts and wiring. Looking at the assembly manual, I can see the mounting plate that rivets to the back side of the rear wheel well.
Does anyone have a picture of this plate installed on their Vette? I can see the shape etc. from the manual but I'd like to see an original one that is mounted. I will have to fabricate the plate and seeing a real one would help.
Thanks

I'm sure Alan will have one from the horns' point of view but in the mean-time, here's one from a 72

Wow, thank you very much for taking the time to do this. I really appreciate it. Is it possible for you to shoot a picture of the mounting plate from the tire side of the wheel well? I making a plate and I'd love to see what it looks like. I am assuming that the plate is mounted on the tire side and riveted through the gas tank side.
Thanks again, this is super helpful.

First, thank you so much for taking the time to send me the pictures. All of them are extremely helpful. I was thinking the plate is mounted in the rear wheel well area behind the rear tire and should be able to be seen from the outside of the vehicle. If you can't get to this area, no problem. I'm thankful for what you sent to me.
Thanks, Dave M.

Hi Mooser and Dave,
Sorry, but no alarm on my 71, so no picture of the bracket.
Regards,
Alan

The assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the installation and the tapping plate you want. It does not give dimensions, but you can see how it was done at the factory.

Thanks everyone: I have the AIM but sometimes, I just like to see things in a real picture. I will make the plate and use the dimensions as a guide. The pictures of the alarm horn location are very helpful and I appreciate the time everyone took to respond.

I crawled under and back and removed the covers and I can't really get a decent picture showing any detail. I've got a pretty heavy layer of undercoat on the top and back of the wheelwells and although you can make out that the plate is there, there's no real way of getting references to surrounding features.
Sorry, maybe someone else has better shot of that area still bare

Thanks for trying. I went ahead and made a plate and athough it didn't turn out as perfect as I'd like, I riveted it in place and it works. Now on to installing the rear wiring harness with the alarm wiring. The only other bracket that I don't have is the one that holds the relay and flasher. I'll have to make that bracket too. I've got some pictures of it though and that will help.
Thanks again for all of your help on this.
