EGR Valve Question
The EGR valve on my 80' has been disconnected (no tubes running from it). With the engine running, my dad lifted up on the EGR and the engine shut off. He noted this indicates the EGR is working but here's my question...
It seems to be the concensus that I don't really need the EGR; that it's simply an emissions thing. Should I buy the EGR block-off plate? Or is it fine how it is, disconnected.

Do you have to pass emissions testing?

if there is no vacuum hooked to it, it is not working.
it is just like putting a plate on it.
manually opening it shows the passage is not plugged because it stalls the motor.
like asked, no smog req'ts?
