Default Are these the correct terminals to jump on starter?

My starter circuit has a connection issue somewhere, I want to check the starter, do I connect a jump wire from the battery + terminal on the solenoid to the small "s" terminal (the one nearest the engine block) on the solenoid?

Yes, the "S" terminal is what should receive power when you turn the key to "start" so jumping between the large post and the "S" with a screwdriver or whatever is simulating the key being turned
M
Dangerous voltage, insulated screwdriver, car out of gear, wheel blocks, etc, etc, etc...

For years, I used two wires with alligator clips and a push button. It finally gave out a few years ago so at a swap meet, picked up a new push button at a tool vendor and re-engineered me a new one.
