Default Fuel line in engine compartment

Can you guys post pics of your fuel line setup? My car doesn't have the best setup and I'm looking for some ideas. I am getting heat sink and I believe some vapor lock that I am trying to address. Thanks!

Why not the stock set up (assume you don't have that now)?

Since you didn't specify year or engine or carb, here are two.

Lars did a nice write up on building your own and that is I did. I had a vapor lock issue with mine since PO installed a fuel pump w/o return line . . . had to use vented gas cap from auto parts store to resolve. One of these days I'll get new pump and fix it correctly.

if that is chrome plated copper fuel line above the filter that could be part of your trouble. never use copper for a fuel line.

Here's my setup. But I think the return line from pump helps with not vapor locking more than running steel lines.

Nice clean setup! Here's what I ended up doing: not sure if my pump has a return...?

Default Fail !

Rubber lines and a glass filter!
Make sure your insurance is up to date.

It is!! It was almost all rubber from the pump for years.. So this is an improvement! I guess I can change the filter to a metal one. I will soon be creating metal tubing to replace the rubber hose also.

I'm sure you'll get to it sooner or later but it's easy to leave what ain't broke alone and not remember until it's to late.

A fuel pump with a return has two lines from the tank and one to the carb, see how many lines you have.

I would start with a stock replacement q-jet fuel line, cut and flare it in the appropriate spot, and join it to your existing hard line coming off the carb. even if you ended up using a couple of 2" long pieces of rubber hose to tie the filter in, it would be better than what you have now. The rubber fuel line flopping around in the engine compartment is bad enough, but those glass fuel filters make me cringe!

My first car when I was 16 was a Plymouth Duster and the PO had a glass fuel filter on it. About a month after I got the car the glass broke and the fuel ignited burning the car.

What filter is this, do you have a part #?

It's a GF652.

The adapters:

The Napa part# is WH 1446. They're made by a company called Weatherhead.

I had an Edelbrock 600 on my former 1967. Carb banjo tube and filter/fittings were of course from Edelbrock. The hard line to the fuel pump was hand bent and flared. This setup worked very well.

Got it - replacing the filter before I fire up and check for leaks (couldn't last night cause my lil man was sleeping).
Do the glass filters break that often? Is it because heat, road debris, banging against stuff under the hood? Just curious. I'll get a metal one on lunch either way.

Vapour lock happens at the fuel pump inlet, not the line going to the carb. You need the factory three port pump to cure it.
