Default New/rebuilts Front Spindles

I just lost the outer bearing on the front left side. Basically the bearing stuck itself to the spindle pretty well. I finally got it off and think that I will need a new spindle as the bearing left some slight mars on the splindle. The right side came right off and the spindle looks good on that side. From what I have been told, the splindle will weaken once a bearing has been stuck/welded in excess as in my case.

Has anyone ordered replacement spindles and who did you get them from? I saw some rebuilt one however, question the quality.

Should I replace both at the same time?

All ideas welcome....

Thanks.

Default spindle

I would only worry about replacing the one side that the bearing seized on as long as the other didn't turn blue from overheating. Maybe you can get a used one from a CF member or there are numerous corvette salvage yards you could contact. FYI 68 and older have smaller spindle dia.

Terry, thanks for the information. I did not know thet the 1968 and prior were different. I think that I will search for just the left side as the right is still in good shape.

68 is a one year only, it`s a mix of 65-67 small bearings and 69-82 large bolts. spindles themselves are not side specific, it`s the steering arms and caliper brackets that are different side to side.
