Default Quick help please! 77' starting problems

Have the classic starter problems!
Brand new starter, still having troubles.
Starts right up, I go on a hour drive, park her and nothing.
Everything lights up, but the starter doesn't click ect.
Then I wait a day and she's back and running.
What could it be? Something simple ?
I don't think it's the solenoid overheating as He has heat wrapped everything.
Long story short I'm looking at trading my car for This 77' I've seen her run many times, test driven and loved, but after he came back with the title it's been having problems.
Should I still grab it and bring it to a electric tech.?
Thank you!

neutral safety switch not adjusted right, if its an auto, push foward on the shifter while you turn the key

Classis heat soak problem. Starter is probably a little tired, connections are corroded. Best solution is to install a high torque gear reduction starter.

She is an auto.
What's the worst case scenario?
How much cash would you expect to resolve the issue?
Would you take on that job?
I believe we did put pressure on the shifter, but not positive.
Thank you all!

Thank you!
You are confident that is my problem?
Would you take the vette at a good trade if this was the problem and if started upon arrival?

I'm not cofident of anything unless I'm working on the car my self, based on your provided info , these good members and myself have given you their best guess based on previous experience. I'm also not giving you any advice on not giving full disclosure to a potential buyer. Thats pretty lame.

The neutral safety switch is located under the passenger side panel below the shifter. 3 screws hold that panel on. Take the panel off and jumper across the switch. If this works when it will not start then that is your problem.

I'm the one buying the car,
I really want it. I feel like the problem happened while I was looking at the car ( almost like he had it sitting for a little while, found a trade and starter her up to starter issues)
But could he be hiding something bigger or do you feel like fixing the safety switch, messing with a few wires, and possibly installing a new mini starter could be all?

sorry bout that , its still pretty lame for them to do it to you, you never really know whats been done till you start fixin things, if its intermitant , the quickest check is to hold the shifter foward every time you start the car, if thats all it is its a quick fix , no parts needed to buy, just an adjustment. and it does happen , sometimes without warning. The other fixes are also simple , just take time and a bit of money
to add to this , it could also be a loose wire at the starter that sometimes makes contact and starts and sometimes with vibration ,doesnt. If it doesnt , you can reach down on the starter side , grab the big red wire and pull it up while someone turns the key. If it starts doing that, its loose, the ground is loose, or the small wire going to the inside small post may be loose. After that , you may start spending money.
